Create a wordpress website

Well just look at that! My own website!

GOOD NEWS. Creating a website is no longer restricted to the realm of the technically savvy guru.

It is no longer the prerogative of big business with big bucks to spend.

Nowadays anyone can create his or her own personalized website without dipping
deep into wallet or purse.

We do not need technical know how or even a smattering of html.

It is all possible with a wonderful free program called WordPress. The cost is minimal.

Ten dollars or less will buy a domain name and ten dollars or less per month will buy hosting. It is not as expensive as some phone lines.

So why would the average person want a website?

Well it can be used for social reasons or for profit.

Socially we can connect with friends or associates, We can exchange views and report daily happenings. A wordpress blog provides space for comments so readers can respond with their own views on posts and pages.

If we want to use it to make some money then we can sign up as an affiliate to promote products or e-books.

A website url looks well on business cards or letterheads and even on car windows.

Adding a prestigious janedoe.com or a johndoe.com lends an air of authenticity.

Once we have learned how to do this the possibilities are endless.

In a nutshell this is the procedure.

We choose a domain name. If it is our own name the chances of it being available
are quite high. If by chance our name is being used by someone else with the same name then all we need to do is add a slight variation, such as a dash or underscore.
Alternatively we can use a nick name.

Then we need a host.

Hostgator is a popular one and their customer support is very good.

Any new wordpress blog comes with a default theme. That is the background of the blog and we can compose on it and adorn it according to our own creativity. We can let our imaginations run riot!

If we don’t like the default theme we can substitute another. There are many
themes available for choosing at wordpress,org.

From the administration panel we can change colors, add a header , add Google ads, add pictures, promote products. etc.
